Will The Chicago Bulls Win the 2022/2023 NBA Championship?

The NBA is a league that never stops. The drama, excitement, and passion that drive the sport are all amplified when each team is mandated to play 66 games in 183 days.

If you’re not ready for the intensity of an NBA season, it will chew you up and spit you out. That’s why it’s hard to see past right now when thinking about the future of the Chicago Bulls organization.

For every amazing moment like their first trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in over a decade, there are also forgettable ones like trading away star wing Zach LaVine, top center Wendell Carter Jr., and second-leading scorer Jabari Parker for three players who probably won’t be on the team come 2022.

If you’re a Bulls fan who doesn’t see much hope for your team in the near future — or if you just love betting on sports — read on to find out if we think they have what it takes to win the next championship by the end of 2022-2023:

Who Will Be The Chicago Bulls’ Stars?

While it’s true that the Bulls don’t have a LeBron James, Stephen Curry, or Kevin Durant on their roster, they do have a promising young core led by center and franchise cornerstone, Robin Lopez.

Signed to a two-year deal worth $16.8 million next season, Lopez is a proven commodity at the center position and is exactly the type of veteran that can mentor the young Bulls’ big men such as Carter and Lauri Markkanen.

The six-foot-three center has a career average of 9.1 points per game, but his defensive intensity and ability to be a “stopper” at the five-spot make his contract well worth it.

And while he may not be a name that will one day be written in the same sentence as “NBA legend”, Robin Lopez is exactly the type of player you want to have as a leader on your team.

He’s not going to make headlines, but he’ll be the type of player that will be counted on to give 100% every night and help lead the team past the first round of the playoffs for the first time in a decade.

What Will Be The Chicago Bulls’ Rotational Calendars?

With the current state of the Bulls’ roster and their lack of future draft picks, there’s no way to predict what the future of the Chicago Bulls will look like. However, we can take a look at how their rotational calendars have changed since the 2016/2017 season to get an idea of what the team might be like in 2022/2023.

The following is a list of the Bulls’ top 12 players by minutes played in the 2016/2017 season:

The following is a list of the Bulls’ top 12 players by minutes played in the 2019/2020 season: Now, we’re not saying that players like Parker, LaVine, and Carter are better than Wade, Rondo, and Lopez. We’re simply saying that those three players were more integral to the Bulls’ rotational calendars in their first season than the veterans were.

Key Acquisitions and Departures Since 2016/2017

While there are many things to like about the 2018/2019 edition of the Chicago Bulls, there are also many things that make you question their ability to win in the near future.

When you trade away your best players in exchange for a few expiring contracts and a handful of mid- to late-first-round picks, there’s a good chance you’re not building a team that can compete for a title.

That said, the Bulls did make a few good moves here and there since the 2016/2017 season. The best of these was acquiring big man Lauri Markkanen in the 2017 NBA draft. Markkanen is an All-Star caliber talent who averaged 19.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 2.1 three-pointers made per game as a sophomore with the Bulls. If he can keep it up for the next few seasons, he’ll be worth every penny of his $64 million contract.

2022-2023 Season Predictions

If you’re reading this and thinking “the Bulls are looking scary good for 2022-2023”, you’re not wrong. Chicago’s core is young, talented, and extremely likable.

They’re also under contract for at least the next three seasons which gives them ample time to build chemistry and get comfortable playing alongside one another.

The problem, however, is that the rest of the East isn’t sitting around playing patty-cake while the Bulls are building their team.

The Boston Celtics will be stronger than ever with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown entering their prime, the Philadelphia 76ers have their eyes set on a championship, and the Toronto Raptors have the most balanced starting five in the conference.

Why the Chicago Bulls Will Win the NBA Championship in 2022-2023

If there’s one thing that you can always count on in the NBA, it’s that anything can happen on any given night. The sport is too fast, too physical, and too unpredictable to ever think that a team is a lock for a title. That said, the Chicago Bulls have all the makings of a championship team.

They have a young and hungry core, world-class leadership from head coach Fred Hoiberg, an incredible work ethic, and a management team that knows how to build and sustain a winning culture. They also have the league’s best player in the form of Ben Simmons, who has all the makings of a superstar.

Why the Chicago Bulls Won’t Win the NBA Championship in 2022-2023

There are a few reasons why we don’t think that the Bulls will win the NBA title in 2022-2023. The first is that they’ll probably have to go through the Celtics or Sixers to get to the finals.

While we have no doubt that the Bulls have what it takes to get past a team like the Pacers or Bucks, we have serious doubts that they can go through Boston and Philadelphia and emerge with a win. The second is that we don’t know what everyone will look like in four years.

While guys like Markkanen, LaVine, and Carter will be entering their prime, guys like Simmons and Joel Embiid will be in their 30s and probably won’t be as effective as they are now.

Bottom line: Will The Chicago Bulls Win the 2022/2023 NBA Championship?

Yes, we think that the Chicago Bulls will win the NBA title in 2022-2023. They have everything it takes to be a championship team from their core to their coaching staff.

If they can avoid the injuries that plague most young teams, they have a legitimate shot at winning it all. And while the road will be long, we’re confident that the Bulls can make it there by the end of the 2022-2023 NBA season.
