SASSA Grant Payment Dates For January 2023 Updates

SASSA is on track to pay grants in January 2023. Clients are encouraged to use more than one way to get their grants.

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) is making plans to pay out social grants for January 2023 starting on January 3, 2023. SASSA also tells all of its clients to use the many ways they can get their money.

Some of the ways are to use stores and ATMs. People who get a social grant and have an SASSA gold card can keep using the same card. It can still be used anywhere that accepts bank cards. The card can also be used at Shoprite, Checkers, U-Save, Pick ‘n Pay, Boxer, and other stores across the country that offer cash back.

On Tuesday, January 3, grants for people over 65 will be given out. On Wednesday, January 4, grants for people with disabilities and child support grants will be given out (Thursday, 05 January). For clarity, if the second day of the month falls on a weekend or a holiday, the payment will be made on the next work day.

As the holiday season comes to an end, SASSA continues to warn beneficiaries to be on the lookout for false information, criminals, and scammers. On grant payment days, clients do a lot of different things to meet their different needs. So, SASSA tells its clients to be careful when they get their social grants. Among these are:

avoiding carrying around a lot of cash and instead using their card to pay for things.
After each purchase, make sure they get their own card back.

Giving older people, people with disabilities, and people who are sick or frail priority in lines
SASSA tells people who want to get the R350 COVID Social Relief of Distress Grant that they should check and update their bank information on the online platform when they need to. SASSA will keep a close eye on the January payments to make sure that the right social grant goes to the right person at the right time and place – Njalo!
