The National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) is a government organization founded in 2020 by presidential order No N° 123/01 dated 15 October 2020 and published in Official Gazette N° 32 bis dated 19 October 2020. It was established under the Ministry of Education to be at the forefront of monitoring the implementation of Norms and Standards through school inspections, as well as to administer comprehensive assessments from level one (1) to level (5) in TVET and Basic Education in accordance with Competence Based Curriculum / Training.
MISSION
The major mission of NESA is to ensure the quality of education in basic education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) from level one (1) to level five (5), as well as to regulate comprehensive student assessments and national examinations.
Responsibilities:
The following are the primary responsibilities of NESA:
To establish accreditation requirements for private basic education institutions and TVET schools ranging from one (1) to five (5) levels;
Monitoring the implementation of norms and standards in public, government-subsidized, and private basic education and TVET institutions from level one (1) to level five (5)
To assure the quality of education from level one (1) to level five (5) in public, government-subsidized, and private basic education and TVET schools;
National examinations must be planned, conducted, and graded.
To make national examination results public;
To orient pupils from primary and secondary schools who have passed national tests.
Powers:
NESA has the authority to:
give certificates to pupils who passed basic education national tests and TVET level five (5);
A private basic education school or a TVET school of level one (1) to five (5) may be accredited.
authorize a workplace to provide TVET training and a certificate up to level five (5);
When deemed essential, suspend or close a school providing basic education or a TVET school of level one (1) to five (5).
equal and provide equivalency of certificates and degrees awarded by foreign schools that provide basic education and TVET levels ranging from one (1) to five (5) (5).
