NECTA administers the PSLE every year in the second week of September. THE TANZANIA NATIONAL EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL (NECTA) is a government institution formed by Parliamentary Act No. 21 of 1973. NECTA is in charge of administering all National Examinations in Tanzania.

The goals of PSLE are to assess learners’ skills and knowledge gained in various subjects at the primary school level; to assess learners’ understanding of basic skills and abilities in reading, writing, and arithmetic, as well as the extent to which they can apply such skills in solving relevant problems in life; and to identify learners with the capacity to continue with secondary education and other training institutions.

PSLE Structure
The Council of Teachers has created the format book for the Primary Education Completion Examination.

Tanzania exams in 2015 were based on the criteria of the Primary Education Curriculum. Candidates for the Final Exam will use this format.

Primary School 2021.
The new curriculum specifies the subjects that must be taught from Class III to Class VII. Kiswahili, English Language, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Citizenship and Ethics, Social Knowledge, and Work Skills are the subjects.
Curriculum changes resulted in modifications to the outlines of the topics from Class III to VII. As a result, the Board of Examiners will assess six (6) subjects: Kiswahili, English Language, Mathematics, Science and Technology, Citizenship and Ethics, and Social Knowledge and Work Skills.
However, no changes were made to the framework of testing for all courses assessed at this level of education in this manner. Design of a Primary Education Test You will still have 40 questions to choose the proper answer to, and they will be answered on Optical Mark Reader (OMR) forms. In addition, questions 5 and 6 on the reverse side of the OMR form must be completed.
This format is composed of five paragraphs: Introduction, General Objectives, General Skills, Test Format, and Proficiency to be measured by each lesson. Furthermore, the examination table is located at the end of each lesson’s format and displays the skills to be tested, cognitive fields, the number of questions, and the percentage of weight per smart.
In general, the format guides test writers, revisers of exam questions, and teachers in developing exams that are fair, legitimate, and reliable. The Council emphasizes that all subjects taught at the primary level should be taught in accordance with the subject outlines. This Leaving Certificate Examination format should not be used in place of abstracts.
The Examination Council recognizes and appreciates the efforts of everyone who helped to improve this format book.
