In South Africa, the Funza Lushaka Bursary is a highly well-known scholarship. The Funza bursary may be an alternative to help pay for your studies if you want to change the world and become a teacher. They provide assistance to undergraduate students pursuing a career in education as well as a one-year post-graduate bursary (PGCE)

 

The Funza Lushaka Bursary: What Is It?

It is a teaching bursary that provides assistance to students pursuing teacher careers. The Department of Basic Education in South Africa is the organization that offers the bursary. It is a multi-year bursary with the objective of assisting public school teachers.

 

Funza Lushaka provides two distinct bursaries.

For the Funza Lushaka Bursary 2023, who may apply?

Who cannot apply for Funza Lushaka bursaries should come first, then.

 

Applying for this bursary will be a waste of time if you have a criminal record, are accused of misconduct, or have been fired from a job.

Employees of higher education institutions and their families are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.

You cannot be awarded this bursary if you currently hold teaching credentials.

What Conditions Apply to the Funza Lushaka Application for 2021?
To be eligible for consideration, applicants for the Funza Lushaka Bursary must fulfill the following requirements:

Basic prerequisites Funza Lushaka bursary 2023

  • must possess a valid ID and be a citizen of South Africa.
  • must already be admitted into a reputable higher education institution’s appropriate field of study
  • Must be eager to pursue a career in teaching and dedicated to it, with a passion for working with children and a willingness to take on and overcome difficulties.
  • must be morally upright
  • First-time applicants must all be under 30 years of age.
  • first-time university students
  • You need evidence that you can begin earning your bachelor’s degree in Matriculating Grade 12.
  • a minimum grade of 4 in the topics you choose to focus on to become a teacher
  • If your goal is to specialize in foundation phase, you must have passed mathematics or mathematics literacy at the Grade 12 level and have a minimum proficiency level of 4 in your native language.
  • If you graduated from high school before 2008, you’ll need an average of 50% (math wasn’t required back then). If you want to focus on teaching technology courses, you’ll need a level 4 pass in math. This also applies to CAT and to pupils who don’t have these matriculating levels.
  • If you are a fresh candidate but are already enrolled in school
  • In your last academic year, you must have earned passing grades in every subject.
  • at least a 55% average for your final academic year.
  • a minimum average grade point average of 55% in the courses you want to teach.
  • Remember that the aforementioned prerequisites are the absolute minimum. The Funza Lushaka bursary is for students who have ambition. First prize will be given for high academic performance.

 

 

 

Conditions for the Post Graduate Bursary for PGCE

There are some distinct conditions for the Funza postgraduate bursary, including the following:

You must meet academic requirements to pursue the postgraduate degree.

Initial Phase: You must be in the intermediate, senior, or advanced phase and major in psychology and an African language. You must have majored in TWO identified priority subjects at the second-year level in the subjects you wish to specialize in (they really emphasize this)

You need sufficient modules for the subjects in which you’ve chosen to specialize.

For students who have already had the Funza Bursary in Lushaka

You must have passed all of your modules from your last academic year with at least 66.6%.

The priority subject areas are the same.

You must succeed in this major if you are only taking one.
You must be moving on to your subsequent academic year.
You must have completed at least 50% of all the study modules.
What Happens After You Finish Your Studies With A Funza Scholarship?

For the same number of years that you got their scholarship, you will be forced to work as a teacher in a public school.
