The Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme is a component of a nationwide initiative that was started to promote teaching as a career. In addition to a monthly living expenditure stipend, it often covers tuition costs, lodging, food, books, and educational supplies.

Applications for the Funza Lushaka bursary for 2023 will open on 17/10/2022
New applications close on 16/01/2023
Re-applications for Existing/Returning Bursars close on 30/11/2022

 

Students must be accepted by a facility that offers teaching programs before applying for the bursary, and applications can be made using the program’s online application site.

  1. Open the e-Gov portal at www.eservices.gov.za
  2. Register by providing personal information
  3. Login to the system using user name and password created when registering
  4. On the e-Services Menu select Funza Lushaka Bursary Scheme
  5. Enter the OTP received on the preferred channel
  6. Accept the Terms and Conditions
  7. On the dashboard menu click on the 2023 application button
  8. Follow the steps to complete the required field with your information
  9. Accept the declaration to confirm the information captured

 

NOTE: All first time applicants must be 30 years or younger to apply for Funza Lushaka Bursary.

 

APPLICATION NOTES FOR THE FUNZA LUSHAKA BURSARY

  • Students must read the Funza Lushaka Bursary Information before applying.
  • Students must have a valid student number when applying (this will be received after you have been accepted or provisionally accepted at university).
  • Ensure that your information submitted is correct – you will be able to access your online application to make any changes before final submission.
  • Ensure that your priority subject areas on your application for are the ones you will specialise in.
  • Academic year of study means the level you are studying (B Ed 1 is 1st year, B Ed 2 is 2nd year etc).
  • You are not allowed to change institutions after applying for the bursary.
  • Applying for the bursary does NOT automatically guarantee you will receive it.
  • Supporting documents must be submitted to your university’s Funza Lushaka office.
