Orlando Pirates Football Club (often known as Pirates) is a South African professional football club situated in the Houghton neighborhood of Johannesburg. The squad competes in the Premier Soccer League, South Africa’s top-tier football league.

The club was created in 1937 and was situated in Orlando, Soweto at the time. They’re called ‘Pirates’ after Errol Flynn’s 1940 picture The Sea Hawk.

Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has reached an agreement with Richards Bay for the services of Nkanyiso Zungu on a season-long loan for the upcoming 2022/23 season.

Orlandopiratesfc.com can also confirm the departure of strikers Tshegofatso Mabasa and Boitumelo Radiopane who will be joining Sekhukhune United and Cape Town Spurs respectively.

Meanwhile, Bongani Sam will move to KwaZulu Natal province where he will join Maritzburg United on loan for a season.

 

Tyson Hlatshwayo

Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that it has parted ways with Coach Fadlu Davids.

Davids – 41 who joined the organisation in 2019 as an Assistant Coach, will leave the Club upon the expiration of his contract at the end of this month.

Ever professional and always disciplined in his approach, Mr Davids leaves the Club having performed his duties in an exemplary manner.

Meanwhile, the Club can also confirm the departure of Head Performance Analyst Darian Wilken.

 

Kwame Peprah
Orlando Pirates will demand €550,000 for the sale of Kwame Peprah (21). An offer from Greek has been rejected for the Ghanaian. The price is low. Pirates‘ bosses are unhappy about it.

Orlando Pirates became the first club since the Premier Soccer League’s inception in 1996 to win three major trophies in the same season, winning the ABSA Premiership, the FA Cup Nedbank Cup, and the Top 8 Cup MTN 8 in the 2010–11 season and the ABSA Premiership, the League Cup Telkom Knockout, and the Top 8 Cup MTN 8 in the 2011–12 season.

They are one of just two South African teams to have won the CAF Champions League, which they did in 1995 alongside Mamelodi Sundowns. They finished second in the 2015 CAF Confederation Cup.

The Pirates have won a total of 33 awards and league championships since their existence. Orlando Pirates are without a doubt one of Africa’s top clubs, with so much achievement under their belt.
